What is the Appalachian Trail?

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,193-mile footpath stretching from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine — through 14 states and some of the wildest terrain on the East Coast.

About 3,000 people attempt a thru-hike each year. Roughly one in four finish.
